Does anybody out there have any Angelica ...

Top picture Tansy second picture Angelica
Hello does anybody have any Angelica in their garden that I could have a small starting root. I can't find it at any greenhouse to buy either. I also have Tansy to give away as well.
Tansy is a green ferny looking herb with yellow flowers, its good to keep away pests with a pungent odor, and dried leaves around your house keep away ants. I will bring some Tuesday to mellow mike night if anyone wants any!

need to get links up for more Ligonier businesses

If you have a Ligonier Favorite that you do not see linked here on Ligonier Living, would you write a nice little blurb about the place and maybe send a picture?

For instance, Fat Daddy's isn't here and I rarely get there but I'm always telling people they have the best selection of beer because they have Tennents on tap and though I love Guinness, Tennents is really fabulous.

I've also sent folks down to Fat Daddy's who are looking for a great hamburger because it seems to me that they have the best in town.

So, let's help our Ligonier friends and neighbors promote their businesses. If they have a web site I've missed, send me a link. If they have no web site, let's make a post and link it. Okay?

Thanks for reading and thanks for helping!

black bear

LIGONIER, Pa. - After a drive up a narrow logging road in the heart of the Allegheny Mountain range, a group of game wardens and others faced a 20-minute hike up a steep ridge over rocks and fallen branches.

They were heading for a den with hibernating black bears as part of an effort to monitor their numbers and health.

White says parks proposal is scare tactic

The Derrick May 29, 2009

State Sen. Mary Jo White is not convinced that state parks would have to close under the Senate's proposed budget.
In suggesting that some 35 to 40 parks would be closed, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is engaging in "scare tactics" that are "unfair to employees and to the public," White said Thursday.
"They (DCNR) are obviously taking a budget hit," she said of the Senate's plan that would reduce funding to the agency by $19 million.
But when Gov. Ed Rendell proposed budget in February included a funding reduction of nearly $7 million in funding for DCNR in February, there was no discussion of closing parks, she said.
In a letter to White, DCNR Acting Secretary John Quigley notes that if the governor's budget were enacted, the DCNR's plan calls for the reduction of some management services at central and regional offices and substantially reduced services at five or six parks.
In response to the Senate's proposed budget, however, which White noted is "admittedly larger," the DCNR is immediately saying it would have to close 35 to 40 parks.
"I think that's the last thing they should consider," White said.
She pointed to other possible funding sources, including $7 million the DCNR is "sitting on," funds that have been encumbered to build a carbon sequestration network.
She also suggested the possibility of renegotiating some oil and gas leases and said the agency lost a lease that would have provided "something like $30 million, because they made pipeline restrictions too tough."
The agency is resorting to "gloom and doom and worst-case scenarios. This is a tactic and not a fair one," she said and suggested that the governor put his budget on the table.
"It is getting time to do some serious discussions, rather than (spreading) gloom and doom," she said.
In her letter to Quigley, White asked him to identify ways to respond to the $2.9 billion projected state budget deficit that has materialized since Rendell's budget proposal in February.
"It is not appropriate for DCNR to opine on problems that extend well beyond our own budget," Quigley wrote.
If not budget cuts, the only other option to deal with the deficit is a "raising taxes," White said.
"And I don't think the people want that. If you look at those tea parties, I think they were sending a message," she said.

It's a wrap..nice job, folks! Hope Eddy got a kick out of it. ;)
