Words in Process Welcomes Melissa Firman!
Tuesday, June 18th at Allegory Gallery!

Calling all writers/bloggers! Words In Process is a reading series that welcomes a local writer to Allegory Gallery on the third Tuesday of every month. Please join us at 7 pm on June 18th! Our featured reader is Melissa Firman!

Melissa Firman is a highly accomplished writer, editor, fundraiser, blogger, advocate, and speaker based in Pittsburgh, Pa. With more than 20 years of professional nonprofit management experience, Melissa has dedicated her career to creating capacity-building fundraising strategies and sustainable initiatives. Through the dollars she has raised, her efforts have positively impacted thousands of students at-risk, families in crisis, children and adults with disabilities, women and girls in need, and survivors of abuse.

She is especially proud of her accomplishments with Laurel House, one of Pennsylvania’s largest and most comprehensive domestic violence programs. There, she served as Director of Development and Public Relations from 2005 through 2010.

Currently, Melissa is a freelance book reviewer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and a regular contributor to the newspaper’s “Portfolio” feature on Page 2. A frequent blogger, she founded and writes the Pittsburgh book blog, “Readin’at.”  Melissa is also a monthly columnist for Benchmark Email (“The Nonprofit Strategist”) and is in the process of completing her first novel.
