Ligonier YMCA threatened

Wednesday, the Ligonier Valley YMCA received communication from the Ligonier Boro Police that named our YMCA as a potential target in an anonymous letter.  We take any threat to our Y community seriously and want to inform the membership, staff and community to be alert and report any suspicious activity to staff immediately.  The credibility of this threat is being investigated by the Ligonier Boro  and Pennsylvania State Police.

Additionally, as part of our commitment to creating a safe environment for members and guests at the Y,  The Ligonier Valley YMCA is now installing and testing a new security system in the coming days that provides a new level of control and management of access to the building.  This comes as part of the Board's long-term plan to update the resources and technology of our YMCA in response to local and national trends in the safeguarding of public facilities and schools.  In light of this recent threat, we have accelerated the installation of the security system.  After the installation is completed, our hope is that the community spirit and life around our Y will remain the same, but with additional safeguards we all desire for our friends, families and community.  We apologize for any inconvenience.  If you have any questions about the potential threat and our response, feel free to contact: Ben Wright at (724)238-7580 ext. 10

Many thanks for your support.
