A Ligonier resident has filed a court appeal against Ligonier Borough and the Ligonier Valley YMCA, challenging the borough's decision to vacate an alley and approve the YMCA's request to construct a parking lot.
In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in Westmoreland Common Pleas Court, Gay Wasserman claims that the borough “abused its discretion and erred in failing to consider” that approving the YMCA's request for a conditional use to build a parking lot, coupled with vacating a portion of Wellington Alley, would have an “adverse impact” on her property on North Fairfield Street.
The action will increase traffic in the alley next to her home and cut off her direct access from North Market Street to an off-street parking area behind her home, according to the complaint filed on her behalf by attorney Gary A. Falatovich.
