2 unsurprising news alerts....Israel and Egypt want peace....Hamas wants to fight.


The Israeli Cabinet has accepted an Egyptian proposal for a cease-fire to end a week of conflict with Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip that has killed 185 Palestinians.

The office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the Cabinet meton Tuesday morning and accepted the proposal, which went into effect at 9 a.m.

Hamas has acknowledged “diplomatic movement” on ending the conflict without yet formally accepting the proposal.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday threatened to escalate Israel’s operations in Gaza after Hamas balked at an Egyptian proposal for a ceasefire.

The threat came after Israel’s security cabinet voted to accept an Egyptian initiative that had been announced Monday evening. A senior Hamas official called the proposal “unacceptable” and complained that Egyptians have not spoken with the Gaza leadership.
