cell tower news in township

Cingular Wireless, doing business as AT&T, received favorable votes from the Ligonier Township zoning hearing board Wednesday night.
The board unanimously granted the company's request for dimensional variances to build a monopole cellphone tower at 100 Route 271 North.
Before the vote, two residents who live near the site spoke against the request.
Jim Giesey, who was recently appointed as an alternate for the board, wanted to challenge board member Gary Thistlethwaite's vote. Through a right-to-know request, he obtained emails between zoning officer Shelly Kaltenbaugh and Thistlethwaite in which Thistlethwaite asked for the name and phone number for the “cell tower people.” In her response, Kaltenbaugh recommended he not speak to the people directly and direct his questions for them through her
