planners expect HOURS of public comment

Ligonier Township officials expect hours of public comment at Thursday's planning commission meeting, where a newly drafted zoning ordinance and map with regulations for Marcellus shale drilling will be discussed.
The commission doesn't adhere to the same policy as the township supervisors, so residents will not have a three-minute time restriction during the public comment period of the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m., township manager Terry Carcella said.
The commission could choose to limit comments that become repetitive, he said.
Solicitor Michael Korns said the commission probably will have several hours of public comment. The panel has the right to bring it to a “reasonable close if necessary, but our goal is to get in everybody we can,” he said.
