another well fire, Washington Co.

"Firefighters and emergency service workers are at the scene of a fire at a natural gas well site in North Strabane, according to a Washington County emergency dispatch supervisor. The well site is owned by Range Resources, the supervisor said. The state Department of Environmental Protection is aware of the fire at the Elizabeth Gell rig, spokesman John Poister said. One part of the well pad is ablaze, Mr. Poister said.

"Hopefully they will be able to contain it," he said.

Two DEP emergency response team members have been dispatched to the site, "to look it over and make sure there is no impact to the environment." The fire was reported about 5:15 p.m. A number of  fire companies responded, as did the Washington County hazardous materials team. The supervisor could not say what sparked the blaze at 257 Ross Road. “We are currently assessing the situation and working with local first responders to ensure the matter is safely managed," said Range Resources spokesman Matt Pitzarella. No injuries have reported, the dispatch supervisor said."

Hard not to imagine this as part of Ligonier's future, given the number of well fires that happen. Where there are gas wells, there are fires, explosions, and so on. Where there are no wells, there are no fires, no explosions... .

Listen up, Ligonier: Stop this industrialization before it starts.
