K9 unit gets new camera

The Ligonier Township Police K-9 Unit is adding an extra level of safety to its operations.
Thanks to grants from the Ligonier Valley Endowment and the Richard King Mellon Foundation, Lt. Eric Eslary and Blek have added a $9,000 Flir H-Series thermal night vision camera to their array of equipment.
“When we're on a track or something like that, especially in a wooded area, the distances that it can detect a person — it is a great, great tool for the K-9 Unit safety-wise and detecting the bad guy or a lost person,” Eslary said.
