What You Should Know About Your Well Water

Dr. John Stolz

         Saturday, October 10, 1 pm
Middlesex Municipal Bldg.
133 Browns Hill Road
Valencia, PA

An estimated 3 million Pennsylvanians rely on private wells as their source of water. Different types of contamination can affect the quality of that water. The development of natural gas reserves over the last decade has raised concerns about the impacts on well water quality. This presentation will discuss well water quality, deciphering water testing data, and PA DEP determination letters.

John Stolz, Ph.D. is a professor and the Director of the Center for Environmental Research and Education at Duquesne University. His research has focused on microbial metabolism of metals and more recently on well water quality and the environmental impact of unconventional shale gas extraction. He has over 100 scholarly publications.

Watch for announcement of another MOB event on Oct. 20 -  the Southwestern Pennsylvanian Environmental Health Project will present "Environmental Exposure, Public Health, Emergency Preparedness, & Public Information"
