Beef Tomato with Rice

Mellow Mike at Mountain Palace
Mountain Palace Weekend Special
Beef & Tomato with Rice
Numerous studies have concluded that the more tomatoes people eat the lower their risks of certain cancers, especially lung, stomach and prostate cancers. A substance called lycopene, which is responsible for tomatoes red color, is thought to be the reason for this cancer protective effect. They also prevent DNA damage from free radicals thus helping to ward off age related diseases. They reduce the risk of heart disease due to a number of nutrients. Tomatoes protect against thrombosis by reducing platelet aggregation. They also reduce inflammation.
Come to Mountain Palace this weekend to enjoy this tasty and healthy special!

This article discusses the potential health risks of genetically engineered foods (GMOs). It draws on some previously used material because its importance bears repeating. It also cites three notable books and highlights one in particular – Jeffrey Smith’s “Genetic Roulette: The Documented Health Risks of Genetically Engineered Foods.” Detailed information from the book is featured below.
Genetically engineered foods saturate our diet today. In the US alone, over 80% of all processed foods contain them. Others include grains like rice, corn and wheat; legumes like soybeans and soy products; vegetable oils, soft drinks; salad dressings; vegetables and fruits; dairy products including eggs; meat, chicken, pork and other animal products; and even infant formula plus a vast array of hidden additives and ingredients in processed foods (like in tomato sauce, ice cream, margarine and peanut butter). Consumers don’t know what they’re eating because labeling is prohibited, yet the danger is clear. Independently conducted studies show the more of these foods we eat, the greater the potential harm to our health.

MIAMI, April 22 (UPI) -- A lawsuit accusing Chipotle Mexican Grill of using food with genetically modified ingredients can move forward, a federal judge ruled.
The case, which is seeking class-action status, says the Denver-based company misled customers with claims its food was GMO-free. The suit alleges Chipotle's dairy product and meats come from animals that consume genetically modified food. A federal judge in Miami rejected the company's motion to dismiss. The case is scheduled to go to trial in November. Chipotle said there are no merits to the allegations.

What is Sea Glass?

What Is Sea Glass?

I look for Sea Glass when I am at OBX but what is it.......

Worn by waves, recycled by the sea, sea glass is a product of both nature and man. Bottles, jar's and glass carelessly discarded are tumbled by the ocean to form these colorful gems of the shore. These lovely collectible beach gems are vanishing due to plastics and recycling.©
"Sea Glass is reverse gem"©. Traditional gems (diamonds, rubies, emeralds) are made by nature and refined by man. Sea glass is originally made by man (bottles and jars) but refined by nature to become smooth frosty beach found gems.
Sea glass begins as bottles & glass that get tossed on the shore, broken, and then tumbled smooth by the waves and currents. Nature acts like a big rock tumbler recycling our pollution!

Cumin Beef!

Chinese Medical Exercise Class at WCCC Latrobe
Mountain Palace Weekend Special
Cumin Beef, Green Pepper, Onion & Rice
In addition to all of the following health benefits, cumin is a tasty spice that creates a unique and wonderful flavor. As an energy booster, cumin is a great source of iron, which helps to maintain healthy energy levels. Iron improves blood flow throughout the body to increase oxygen delivery on a cellular level.Regarding cancer prevention, cumin has been found in studies to have potent anti-cancer properties. This is probably thanks to its free radical fighting properties. Free radicals can contribute to cancer development and growth, so consuming foods and herbs that fight free radicals can help to prevent cancer and other illnesses. Cumin is beneficial for the digestive system, helping with the symptoms of nausea, indigestion, diarrhea, and flatulence. Cumin contains “thymol”, a compound that stimulates stomach acid production and allows the body to get maximum nutrition from food. Cumin increases the heat in the body, boosting the metabolism as well as improving kidney and liver function. This can help the body get rid of impurities, which will decrease the chances of disease in the body.Getting rid of toxins within the body can also reduce the incidence of skin problems. Breakouts such as blemishes, rashes, and boils are usually a result of the body trying to remove waste in the body and using cumin may reduce these symptoms because the waste is efficiently taken care of through the digestive system. In addition to increasing energy, the iron in cumin may also be beneficial for lactating mothers because it may help to increase milk production. The thymol in cumin may be another reason why milk production is increased, because it stimulates gland secretion.

so today I was looking for Morel Mushrooms and got home and ....

My Husband found a Tick on my neck....yikes and he pulled it out...
There are many different types of ticks in the United States, some of which are capable of transmitting infections. The risk of developing these infections depends upon the geographic location, season of the year, type of tick, and, for Lyme disease, how long the tick was attached to the skin.
While many people are concerned after being bitten by a tick, the risk of acquiring a tick-borne infection is quite low, even if the tick has been attached, fed, and is actually carrying an infectious agent. Ticks transmit infection only after they have attached and then taken a blood meal from their new host. A tick that has not attached (and therefore has not yet become engorged from its blood meal) has not passed any infection. Since the deer tick that transmits Lyme disease must feed for >36 hours before transmission of the spirochete, the risk of acquiring Lyme disease from an observed tick bite, for example, is only 1.2 to 1.4 percent, even in an area where the disease is common.
The organism that causes Lyme disease, Borrelia burgdorferi, lies dormant in the inner aspect of the tick's midgut. The organism becomes active only after exposure to the warm blood meal entering the tick's gut. Once active, the organism enters the tick's salivary glands. As the tick feeds, it must get rid of excess water through the salivary glands. Thus, the tick will literally salivate organisms into the wound, thereby passing the infection to the host.

Outlander Season 2 Premiere Recap: Paris Is Burning (& Claire's Returning)

My favorite Show is Back well yesterday I waited to post till the premiere started yesterday at 9pm on STARZ ..........I love the Irish setting the clothes of 1745 , the music ......if you havent watch the first season go to netflixs you may be able to find it there or STARZ has reruns.... maybe even on iTunes or your local library ......
Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) is back! Okay, fine; he's not the only one who's back. The whole Outlander gang is back for season 2, and everything is different. First of all, we don't get to see Jamie until halfway through the episode. That's not cool. I mean, insert something a mature adult would say about how it makes total sense for the storyline here, because it absolutely does. I'm just sulking about how long it takes for Jamie to appear. Although since it takes so long for him to put in an appearance, it makes your heart flutter that much more when you finally get to gaze upon his fine form.

Starting From Seed

Gymnosperms , meaning naked ... and Sperm meaning seed....
Plants didn't always produce seeds.  Millions of years ago, when the world was mostly water, ( maybe after the flood just my thoughts)   swamp or just plain wet, terrestrial spore-producing plants like ferns and mosses were supreme because they used water to facilitate reproduction.  Once the continents began to drift apart and land rose, the earth's climate began to fluctuate.  The seasons were born.  Seed-bearing plants were one adaption to these drier conditions.  Scientists divide these higher plants into 2 groups: The Gymnosperms , meaning naked ... and Sperm meaning seed.

Food Additives

Every day, however, that’s what many food processors have included in their “recipes,” which they put in beautifully labeled packages and place on your neighborhood grocery store shelves. The dash of poison comes in the form of food additives. And very few people recognize they are being poisoned.Brain Energy

Take a look inside the most powerful physics machine on Earth .....

....The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is one of the most impressive particle colliders that's ever been built, and the people who run it have a monumental job — searching for evidence of new matter that's yet to be discovered. They've succeeded more than once already. In 2012, scientists at CERN discovered the Higgs boson, and just last month the organization announced that they'd found a new class of particles known as pentaquarks  read more..........
