Seventh-graders at Ligonier Valley Middle School are using their math skills to learn about history.
The students are making a replica of Fort Ligonier using measurements they took at the 18th-century fort, coordinating its layout and determining the scale of the 24-structure model.
“They've done a really nice job,” said Sarah Doris, math instructor for the nearly 100 students working on the project. “Every 3⁄8 of an inch represents a foot on the actual fort. We went to the fort in the fall and got all the measurements.”
